i
spent most of the weekender in the 'vault', not being imprisoned there through
flipancy but out of a personal preference to the tunes.
other weekenders @ skegg i have devided my time
equally between the upstairs 'oldies' and the vault's 'not-so-often-played' type
tunes.
on the few occassions i ventured upstairs to
take some pix i found the dance floor very, very well populated and also i saw
many people having a damned good time (which is what skegg is all about).
although not the busiest weekender it was far
from short of people and those who were there were there in spirit and in body.
i thouroughly enjoyed the whole weekend.
speaking to a lot of people the only negative i
picked up on was in the upstairs 'oldies' room there were far too many
'repeated' tunes.
i can understand people's frustrations at this
because it does erk me at times but let's look at the potential causes:
1) dee-jays not bothering to listen to previous
dee-jays sets to know what has been played. I know some dee-jays are not aware
of what others have played although that's certainly not the case for all, i
know Pete Taylor listened to every set before his to make sure he didn't
replicate any part of the previous play sets and i'm sure there were others.
2) dee-jays not turning up until just before
their set therefore not having a clue what has been played, or
3) dee-jays not respecting the paying public
enough to actually give a shit about whether someone else has played their
'prize-safety-net' tune before him or her.
one way to help combat 1 & 2 would be to leave
and A4 lined pad and ask EACH dee-jay to write each record he has played on the
list then as the next dee-jay comes up to sort his tunes out he or she could
look at the list and avoid duplication of tunes. this of course doesn't help
number 3, there is an answer to that, if they are so conceited as to not give
the respect to the paying public then jerk 'em off, there are many dee-jays out
there who could do as competent job, after all, it would be a shame if those
people from Manchester that were talking about it at the after-show event at
wolfies didn't turn up again just because of either incompetence or ignorance
from a dee-jay or two.
as i say, i was in the vault most of the
weekend so i can't name names but if those dee-jays who knowingly replicated
records read this here's a pennies worth of free advice....... play something
else if 'it's' been played before, who knows, if you break out of your 'safe' 20
records that you always play you just may find another 380 records in your box
that people would love to hear just as much.
rant over.
weekender, loved it, can't wait until the three
roomed 10th anniversary in september.

Well it is left to me now Charlie
Drake has gone off to work today.perfect end to a perfect weekend.
Absolutely loved every minute of it. Bloody Brill. Music was exceptoinal down
stairs. I didn't venture upstairs only for a few hours on Sunday afternoon, but
all the comments I heard was happy one's.
Lovely to see all from the massive soul family we are all part of, it's so great
to have a "family bit of a doo!!"
I would like to thank our coffee and doughnut monitors well done chapps we
really enjoyed them.
In this time of resession and worry , everybody seem to have their restbite and
left with happy smiley faces . so bring on the 10th Anniversary in September and
if you want any tickets ,and see us out and about please feel free to ask as I
will have them with me. ( there is a extra room for this weekend should be fab)
Take care and Big Thanks to Dave and Donna for a great weekend , well done.

I have 2 agree with coops,
that u can hear the same records played a few times ,on the same day or night
sessions. i was in some people's comany from manchester and that was the only
bad thing they had to say about the weekender. But it does need looking into

Whilst I spent most of the weekend
trying to keep up with hobbo's drinking habits, I did manage to hear some great
music starting with Rupe & mick & Mo on friday. (thanks for the record Mick)
saturday brought Brendon from Doncaster first time I've heard this guy but what
a great set. But the highlight of the weekend had to be Roger Banks Saturday
night set it was absolutley superb.

Must admit i spent most of the time
in the vault and would like to single out mick and mo and rupes set on friday
night, first class, would have liked to seen them spinning on saturday when
there was a few more in they deserve it, sat night my chosen set goes to tatts
and chris, sublime set, also enjoyed chris daltons set sunday afternoon, look
forward to september and hope dave takes a stock of how the weekend went and
tweaks a few things to make it special, heard he is getting a top class caterer
in for september rumour has it he has worked in some of the top hotels in europe

Only just recovered enough from the
weekend to make a posting!
We had a brilliant weekend, upstairs for 99% of the time & loved just about
every minute.
Never usually complain about repeats at a weekender, must admit though I was
suprised to hear one record played 3 times in 2 hours on Friday night.
Apart from that the only complaints I have is that my legs are knackered & my
knees are aching from dancing all weekend.
Roll on September

Hi ya people i for one spend more
time downstairs than i normaly do and to my suprise really enjoyed it even got a
few snaps of coops tearing up the floor (????) maybe the darkside is spreading
and as for the repeated tracks issue personally i dont care that much as long as
its not like a commercial station where its repeated every other track. imo
every jock that goes to do a spot puts a load of effort into playing his or her
best and more power to thier elbows see you all around and about till then keep
safe and be happy
