Once again the Skeggy Weekender delivers every kind of soul music and hoards of freindly people. Possibly my shortest ever trip to the weekender, due to having to attend my Granddaughters christening today, and I left as always looking forward to the next one. Dave and Donna were the perfect hosts as usual. Totally unique and totally soulfull.

Thanks to Dave for the DJ spot, I had a great time, . Much appreciated.

For those that are interested, my playlist as follows.

Aretha - One step
Cookin on 3 Burners - That girl
Donald Albert - The hardest part
Frankie Knuckles - It's hard sometimes
Sonya - Not the man that I need
Bobby Reed - The time is right for love
Marc Evans - Given me joy
Joi Cardwell - Let it go
Lanier and Co - I don't know
Lew Kirton - Heaven in the afternoon
Sean Oliver - You and me
Teddy Pendergrass - The more I get the more I want.

Absolutely rammed, hot and sauna like at times!

was nice to see Mark n Rob in attendance, plus the Girls from Wigan area. I even entered the dance competition (to make the numbers up obviously )... Debbie also started stompin away to 'little queenie' not knowing the comp had started . when she realised, she went stiff as a board and wanted to get off the floor asap

a few repeat plays on the turntables but from what we saw (sat night only), a busy and enjoyable event.

Top weekend from the Lincoln girls too, got there bout 8ish Friday night, already as hot as hell and heaving upstairs, some nice tunes played and for the friday this was our choice of room.
Nipped in saturday afternoon and sat in the vault and was pleasantly pleased by the tunnage, nice and cool in there as well, as the sunshine smiled on the faithful all weekend. Just enough time to nip back to the BandB for a nap ( couldnt have made it through without one) And the room of choice for me was the vaults tonight, Initially upstairs and heard a tune repeated a couple of times and thought it wasnt for me, so went downstairs seeking asylum and so glad I did... absolutely stunning sets from Rupe, Mick and Mo, Jackco, Rob and Rixy, and finally Sam doing the magic that only he can ... never heard one bad tune all night in the vault.. pure soul heaven for me... well done everyone. So 2.30am a short trip across the road to the Barlife to find a small corner of their Dance floor til 4am (Im sure it was a tad later!!! lol) and treated to a double deckers delight of Coops and Smudge til the legs could stand no more. Couldnt make it Sunday afternoon guys due to work family, ya know the 'norm' but hope it went as good as the rest of the weekend did. Tune of the weekend for me has to be Mick and Mo's James Conwell.... what a track!!!!! ... astonding!
Many thanks Dave and Donna once again for putting the Skeggy 10th Anniversary in the soul archives of great times, bloody hard work and pleased it went well. Heres to the next one.
Dawn xxx

Hi Dave & Donna, well done to you & all the djs plus all the people who put together a fantastic weekender at skeggy, or should i say the Costa Del Skeg.. blue skys & sun plus awesome music & people all weekend. This was one out of the top draw as far as soul weekends go. Nice to see a lot of the Nottm crowd at the coast over the weekend, enjoying the sounds & the win for forest on sunday.Thought the sunday afternoon mite be a low key event in the main ballroom (how wrong was i) anyone who made it into the arfternoon session found it was a real treat and soul sam played a blindder of a spot and kept everyone in great spirits till the very end, 10/10 for all who joined in with the entertainment... Bar life was a great addition to the main venue & the after party was a perfect end to the weekend. Keep the weekenders going Dave!!

See you all next year for more of the same......

A well deserved "Happy 10th Anniversary" to the event, and my own personal 6th. Always a top weekender for a party atmosphere, Bar Life across the road functioning as a special 3rd room on the Saturday night was an added bonus. A few stand out favourite sets to mention: Chris Forrest and Andy 'Tats' Taylor, Fish, Andy Garside and Tony Mundey in the Vault, Harry and Di Crosby, Pete Taylor and Andy Riley at Bar Life; the Imperial Ballroom always very much a "party to the oldies" as expected, with a very busy dance floor, so everyone was well catered for.

My thanks as ever to Dave and Donna for the ever excellent weekend. Next one a little later in the year than usual as the normal week would have been the immediate weekend after Prestatyn, looking forward to it already.

Thanx you lot for makin' this another weekend to remember. Not just the promoters. Not just the jocks. Not just the people. Everyone. Right down to the friendly charming lady who was serving us drinks downstairs. Sorry there were a few absent friends but everyone who was there made it something special this time and we were glad to have attended.
